STORY

 Daphne, in Greek mythology, is a naiad nymph, the daughter of river god and associated with fountains, wells, springs and streams. She was famous for being incredibly beautiful and for being loved by the god Apollo who pursued her until she grew exhausted and cried out to Gaia for help. The goddess transformed Daphne into a laurel tree which Apollon then adopted as his sacred plant, appropriating the laurel for poets and, in Rome, for triumphs.
